Why should I choose birth photography?
I love the birth photos I have from my daughter’s birth in 2018 and my youngest son’s birth in 2022; the images are beautiful and artistic and allow me to relive those moments years later. You may be asking, Why would you WANT to relive your birth experience? My answer? Because I truly loved it.

I know this is not a standard answer from very many women about their birth experience(s) due to a wide variety of personal reasons, and that is why I want to be part of the narrative to change the way birth is both experienced and perceived. Birth is, arguably, the single-greatest achievement our bodies will make and should be celebrated rather than feared. All birth is beautiful and each woman deserves the opportunity to relish in her accomplishment. While I do strongly believe that birth photography is for everyone, there are some of us who decide they don’t want it and that is okay! I once heard someone liken birth photography to wedding photography in that they are both momentous occasions that only happen once in your life and so why wouldn’t you want to have pictures of those precious moments?
I love the smiling moments; we don't consider smiling as a possibility in birth and yet there are so many images I could share of pure joy and elation during and after labor.
For a few of us, birth is opportunity to learn more about our bodies and be as involved as we can be in every step of the process. For some, birth can bring up trauma and that is real and scary and to you I say that you are not alone and that, yes, i would still recommend birth photography because it tells part of your story during the journey to who you are now. For others, they think of the pain and messiness that accompanies birth and while this is a very real part of birth, to them I say to rest assured, that I make sure to only document the moments you want to remember. Others (like me) like to have the entire process documented and all of the blood, sweat and tears it took to get there! As I’ve said before, I think there is nothing as beautiful and powerful as birth and I like to capture all of it, including the “messy” parts, but part of this process is getting to know you and your preferences so that I can accurately capture and deliver exactly what you want to see, and don’t want to see.
However you identify with birth, birth photography is for you! Whether you are a first-time mom, experiencing a multip-pregnancy, delivering in a hospital or at home I can’t wait to work with you!
